Little Lady Revisited

Welcome to the Papertrey Senior Design Team Challenge for October.  This month the team will be making projects using Nichole's Little Lady stamp set.  This is an oldie but goodie set that features all the elements you need to layer some cute, stamped lady bugs.

I always think of little girls when look at this stamp set.  They love little lady bugs because they're just so cute.  So my card today features the lady bugs with ribbon, buttons, frilly scalloped papers and glitter....everything a girl loves.  And how about stamping the lady bugs inside the Friendship Jar?  So cute and another great use for the jar set!
To create the frilly scallops, it's very easy.  Select three patterned papers that have some contrast to each other.  I chose papers from Beautiful Blooms, Egg Hunt, and Green Tea Leaves.  Next, using the Small, Medium and Large Scalloped Border dies, cut three strips of scallops.  Use a different patterned paper for each size scalloped die.  With scissors, cut each scallop about 3/4 of the way through, leaving the scalloped strip in tact.  Adhere these to your card front, layering the scalloped strips with the biggest on the bottom...medium in the middle and the smallest scalloped strip on the top.  Ruffle up the scallops to create dimension. Tie a ribbon around the card to cover the top layer.  There you have it!
For the jar, I stamped the lady bugs inside along with a few of the tiny flowers from Lady Bug.  I finished off the jar with glitter and Red Baker's Twine tied up with a Pure Poppy Button.  The *with thanks* sentiment snippets were created with a sentiment from the stamp set.
Don't forget to fancy up the inside.  I stamped another sentiment from Little Lady on a strip of white cardstock, then added glitter and a scrap of my tiny scalloped border.
These will make darling little thank you notes for the girls to have on hand.  To see what the other Senior girls have created, check out their blogs below:

Ordering multiple items in my Etsy shop...

Hi friends.  I have had several issues with Etsy customers not being able to order multiple items in my Etsy shop.  Since there are tons of you that are able to order multiple items though, I think it is a minor user error.  Let's see if this helps.  Gayle, a great customer of mine, offered these tips for ordering multiple items...hope this helps:

When I want more than one item I click on the add to cart button...item comes up as one..then change 1 to number of items wanted /then hit update button below ...it will recalculate the amount wanted, and the shipping and show recalculated total on screen ...then goes to final review and payment section...Hope this helps.

Pumpkin Blondies

Edited:  Pan size is 9 x 9.

Edited:  Fonts....the script on this recipe card is called Little Days.  For my other cards, I've used Ali Edward's font and Becky Higgin's font.

Wow, from now on I'm going to tempt you with recipes when I need comment love.  You guys are awesome.  :)  So are you ready for my  Pumpkin Blondies recipe? I recently purchased a copy of the Mixing Bowl.com magazine, such a cute little baking magazine.  The online site is awesome too, you can find the original recipe HERE.  I adjusted a few of the ingredients in my recipe though.

And here's my recipe card.  All of my recipe cards measure 4" x 6" with the body of the recipe being printed from my computer.  And if you hit on the word recipes in the Labels section at the end of my post, all of my recipe posts will show up. Pages and pages of my fun recipe cards.  Enjoy!
For the pumpkin images on my recipe card, I used Friendship Jar Fall Fillers.  You could really use any of the images from this set by themselves, without the jar image.  Love that.  I used the double pumpkin image and colored them with my handy dandy Copic Sketch markers.  A little glitter pen over the top makes them super shimmery.  Under the pumpkin strip are snippets of my Fabric Tape and PTI Vintage Buttons.
To add a little more color to my recipe card, I swiped my printed title with a Copic marker and then outlined it with a glitter pen.  Copic has great Spica glitter pens in lots of fun colors.
Along the bottom of my recipe card, I added some word stickers from The Girls Paperie Toil and Trouble sticker book along with more Fabric Tape snippets.  The patterned paper on my recipe card is also from The Girls Paperie Toil and Trouble paper line.  I found mine at Scrapbooks, Etc in Topeka, Kansas.  If you go there, you must get the Toil and Trouble sticker book.  It's like $4.50 with oodles of pages of letter and word stickers, etc.  A real bargain for your bucks.  I also had my elbows out and shopped for the The Girls Paperie Christmas line too, equally lovable.

And here is the much anticipated recipe for you, enjoy!

Ghosts on a stick....

Hey guys, we're at 41 posts!  Woohoo, looks like we'll make it to 50 so stay tuned for my recipe card for Pumpkin Blondies tomorrow.

And someone asked, "Also, will there be a Holiday/Christmas stamp set that comes out soon to go with the Friendship Jar set?"  Well, well, well..........three holes in the ground.  (My dad always says that)........so you want a holiday Friendship Jar set.  That would require like a bo-zillion comments before I could make commentary on that question.  I guess you'll have to wait and see........

Hi friends, what's up today?  I felt like playing hooky all day....where does one escape to when you don't want to work but you work from home???  That is the question.

So I went ahead and made this card...it was fun work so that is okay.  :)  I hadn't used the adorable little ghost image from Friendship Jar Fall Fillers yet so I got it all inky today.  I also got my hands on some of The Girls Paperie Toil and Trouble Halloween collection at Scrapbooks, Etc in Topeka, Kansas over the weekend.  I knew they had the paper and when I saw it in person it was one of those *elbows out, nobody come near this paper while I shop* moments. It's that good and I love it that much!
My first line of business while making this card was to stamp the sticks and ghosts first, then color them with my handy dandy Copic Sketch markers.  The colors I used were:  W00, W1, W3, YR18 and E30.  If you live near Topeka, you can get your Copic markers at Scrapbooks, Etc too.  Gotta love and support our local shops.  :)  Tell them Mish sent you.

Annnd, I digress but you also gotta love fresh goodies out of the oven.  I had to run up and grab me a Pumpkin Blondie.  Jordan is home from school today but is better now so we did a little baking.  If I receive 300 comments on this post, I will post the recipe tomorrow.  Along with a recipe card.  :)  Okay, may 50 comments.  50 comments would be good.

Back to the card.  It just dawned on me today that you don't have to make the jars look see through.  Why not die cut a jar with patterned paper, stamp the jar outline and call it good.  I think my black and white jar looks very chic and decoupaged.  Will definitely try this look again.   For the jar embellishments, I used a ziggy zag jar topper die cut and a matching gingham label with stamped sentiment, all with the Friendship Jar Fall Fillers line.  The Baker's Twine is Chocolate from PTI. Buttons are PTI's Terracotta Tile.
For the inside of my card, I embellished it with scraps of the patterned papers, some PTI sentiments and my Orange Soda Carnival Tickets. The carnival tickets use more Fall Fillers stamps...the eyeballs and the 5 cent eyeball stamps.
Hope you enjoy my Halloween card today.  It's almost October, have you started with your Halloween projects yet?

Happy Birthday Pumpkin Card

Hi friends, we've had some beautiful Fall weather here.  Definitely makes me think of pumpkins.....and all my yummy recipes to make with pumpkin.

Today I have a pretty birthday card that I made for my mother in law for next month.  I'm really into this rustic pumpkin color and love to combine it with green.

The stamps used are Vintage Picnic, using some paper piecing on the picnic basket.  The plump little pumpkins were colored with Copic markers.  When doing a focal piece like this, I stamp the pumpkins....then color them with my handy dandy Copics.....and then adhere the paper pieced basket over the top.  My base cardstock is Terracotta Tile.

I always love to use my scrap papers to embellish the inside of the card.

And here are the Copic colors I used to color in the pumpkin image.  Hope you enjoy!  It's the perfect time to use those Fall themed stamps.

I'll be trying out lots of new pumpkin recipes this Fall.....got any good ones you'd love to share??  Post them in the comment section.  :)  Have a great weekend everyone!

The witch is in.....

The witch is in....and she's been brewing up a frightfully fun pot of Halloween Wrinkle Ribbon.  Beware:  Buy it quick or it will be gone in a toad's wink of an eye.  Available in my Etsy shop as soon I fly over there.  Enjoy.  (insert wicked witch laugh)

A date with your stamps...

Hi friends. I'm hearing three main comments from stampers lately: I don't have time to stamp, I don't have any motivation or good ideas, and I don't know what supplies to use together when I sit down to stamp. With a little pre-planning, a few simple sketches, and a grouping of well selected supplies from your stash you'll be on your way to stamping up a nice pile of cards in no time.

Let's get started. First and foremost, you need to set aside time for stamping. Get your calendar out and start making dates like an appointment. If your schedule is too busy for this, start thinking about small increments of time that you can take for yourself. Skip the two hours of tv a night, step away from the computer, stay up later....you must find a way to make time for your hobbies.

Next up, make a list of projects you want to complete. For example, you might need two male birthday cards, 3 thank you cards, and you want a couple extra get well and sympathy cards on hand. Update the list as needed. Keep a cute little notebook to keep it all organized.

So you've found a date with your stamps, let's get to work. Go shopping in your own stash. Gather up products that coordinate and are easy to match...or mixy match if you want that look that I often use. Papertrey makes it soooo easy to pick out products. Below, I have a pad of Autumn Abundance patterned paper, Summer Sunrise and Terracotta Tile Vintage Buttons, and some matching Terracotta Tilefelt. Easy peasy. Don't get out all of the supplies you own....save some for later, okay? I also chose Beautiful Blooms II stamp set but in the end I used the coordinating dies instead of the stamps. It's okay to change your mind.  I also chose a thank you sentiment set and a birthday sentiment set since those types of cards were on my list.
Next, you need some inspiration. Well, you've come to the right place my friends. Any of my cards or projects can serve as inspiration as well as all the other wonderful bloggers out there. Print off photos, make a sketches like I've done below. There's no need to reinvent the wheel. However, make sure you give due credit when you borrow ideas. :) Below are some sketches that I did one night while watching tv....a variation on some simple embellishments.
Don't be afraid to re-use your own ideas again and again too. I keep some of my favorite cards pinned up in my Artsy Studio as reminders that I have ideas right at my fingertips.
Okay, next up we're ready to start some serious stamping! From looking at my sketches, I knew that a doodad of some sort would be a main focal point of my projects.  So I got out all my flower dies from the Beautiful Blooms II collection and went to work.

Using the Autumn Abundance patterned paper and Terracotta Tile Felt, I cut out lots of flowers.  I used the largest flower dies with the patterned paper and the medium size dies with the felt.

To assemble my flower doodads, I layered a large paper flower, a medium felt flower and a Vintage Button.  I tied them all together using Chocolate Baker's Twine and a large eyed needle.

Here's my lovely little pile of doodads.  This step could easily be done while watching tv as a step all by itself.

From looking at my inspiration sketches, I also knew that I wanted lots of scallop cut borders.  Using the medium scalloped border die, I cut lots of scalloped strips from my Autumn Abundance paper.

Next it was time to assemble my cards.  Using the sketch layout shown below, I staged my supplies to get a basic idea of what my finished cards would look like. I went to work assembling my cards, using 3 different layouts based on my sketches.

I also used the sketches as inspiration for some notepads.  Ohhh, how I love the notepads.  Remember to think outside the box.  Sketches can be used for cards, scrapbook pages, gift bags, notepads, etc.  Let your mind do a little creative thinking.

When I was all done with my cards and notepads, I had a big ol' stash of goodies.  I decided to group my  finished projects into groups of three which included a thank you card, a birthday card and a notepad.

I might use use these as gifts for upcoming birthdays.....

...or keep a set in my stash for those unexpected times when I need a little something..

..or for when friends call up good' ol Mishie cuz they know she's got something good on hand.  :)

Whatever the case, I've got a nice pile of beautiful goodies to share.  I hope that I have inspired you to make some time on the calendar for yourself.....to get out those supplies you spend good money on.....and to create something beautiful every day.  Enjoy!

A Sunday in September...

Last Sunday my dad picked me a bouquet of wildflowers from the nearby pastures. He told me every flower that was in the bouquet....broom weed, goldenrod, sunflowers and some others that I can't remember.
Fresh picked flowers are the best kind. Thanks Dad! They look so pretty in my old watering can.
I also got a few mum to sit on the porch along with my little pumpkins and strawberry corn from the patch.
This beautiful, vibrant mum really took off this year. So pretty. And Eric you need to weed eat, buddy.
One of my favorites in the fall is this Live Forever plant. That color is beautiful.
And my coleus is hanging on too. It will be gone at the first freeze though.
Ahhhh, so much inspiration and color. My flowers inspired today's kit called A Sunday in September. Fun colors that remind me that Summer is trying to hang on.....but that Fall is on it's way.
The contains all the supplies to create five of the finished gift sacks as shown below. A strand of Cotton Twine is also included so that you can create a garland and hang all five finished sacks on the string with my Marigold Rustic Clothespins. This would be so cute for a little party where guests could take a little gift home with them.
Each gift sack would include a Brown Paper Sack, a lined card for writing a message, supplies to assemble a cute tag and the Marigold Clothespin. You can cards, candies, vintage hankies or linens, crafting supplies, et into the sacks. Lots of possibilities. Stamped images are left up to you to customize as you wish.
Also included in the kit are extras like a sampling of my Fabric Tape and extra yellow and manila tags to add to cards that could coordinate with the gift bag.
All packaged and ready to go. You can find them in my Etsy shop HERE.

Jordan's Love Bug Birthday Invitations

It's about time for Jordan's birthday and she wanted to make her own invitations. She chose the card below for her inspiration. Jordan made the cards all by herself. I think she did a great job!
She decided to use Papertrey's Enjoy the Ride stamp set for her birthday cards. No particular birthday theme, just cute invitations. It all started with these cute die cut love bugs. The cars are so easy to cut out with the Enjoy the Ride die. Raspberry Rhinestones were used for the tail lights. All the patterned paper for the invites is from Cosmo Cricket.
Next up, Jordan picked out some Cherry Limeade Carnival Tickets and die cut some striped patterned paper using the scalloped border dies from Papertrey.
Here she is working away, enjoying every minute.
One of my favorite parts of Jordan's invites is the sentiment she stamped on the carnival tickets. The sentiment reads *it's my party* and is from Birthday Bash Sentiments. Once the cards were ready to assemble, Jordan thought the cards needed a little extra oomph. I suggested she use the Large White Metal Rim Tags to give the love bugs a little more focal point. She covered them with more patterned paper and it worked out great.
Next it was time to assemble the invites. So bright and cheery, I just love them. What sweet little fingers too.
Jordan stamped *birthday girl* on the license plate of the love bugs. Love. She also created some party tickets using Buttered Popcorn Carnival Tickets, some flower die cutes and green rhinestones. The tickets will be slipped into the invitation with instructions to bring the ticket to the birthday party. Upon arrival, the guests will present the ticket to redeem a door prize. Such a cute idea...now to whip up some fun door prizes.
And here are the finished invites. Jordan worked the next night and created adorable matching envelopes. I can't wait for her friends to get their invites!
Don't you think Jordan did an amazing job? Of course she used my sample, but her execution and eye for detail is astounding for an almost 12 year old. Proud mama moment for sure. A little mini Mishie.

More cards in sacks...

Hello friends, it's a new day and a new week. The girls are off to school and as soon as I wrap up my blog post for today I'm headed to the garden to pick green beans. Can you believe it? Our summer beans always die so we planted a fall crop. And voila, I've got tons of beans now. I can't wait to have some tonight for supper. Along with fried zucchini, we planted more of those too and they're thriving.

For today's cards I'm using more of Crate Paper's beautiful Restoration line. Be still my crafty heart!
Lately I've just wanted some cards that come together really quickly. By using my Medium Manila Parcel Tags I was able to stamp up a bunch of sentiment tags in no time. I used sentiments from several Fillable Frames sets, Up, Up and Away, Say It With Style and Flutterby Friend. I love to get all mixy matchy with my sentiments.
For my card assembly, I kept the basic design the same then added Cotton Candy Carnival Tickets, Vintage Buttons, Wrinkle Ribbon and chipboard die cuts from Crate Paper.
Next up, I made a few carnival ticket doodads with punches, chipboard accents, sequins and a small punch.
The ticket doodads were created to tie onto my Brown Paper Sacks. I looooove using these an envelopes as I first showed in this post. Today, I simply added a few scraps of the patterned paper, my ticket doodad, a Cotton Twine wrapping and a Tiny Tag to write a small message or the recipient's name.
Are they not just the cutest things ever? I love to see them all lined up in my little stash basket.
And there's plenty of room to add a little gifty if you wish, like this Hershey's with Almonds candy bar. But since I tend to eat all my props that won't be happening. :)
I hope you have a fabulous day friends! Stay tuned this week for lots of Wrinkle Ribbon, Copic colored goodies and my Papertrey Newsletter post.
